In Memory of Anja Graves, Co-Founder

Anja Graves, loving wife, and mother, died of cancer on August 20,2023, in her home. She was 53. Anja lived life to the fullest. Everything she touched was made better by her presence, whether at work, at home, or in the company of her hundreds of friends. Whether she was telling stories in fluent Spanish, lobbying Congress on behalf of public transit projects, or volunteering for her community-she did it all with a beaming contagious smile. Anja is survived by her husband Marco Vaca; adopted children Mariana and Jose; mother Jana; sister Emily; nephews and nieces and extended family of in-laws who cherished and loved her.

In Tribute To Anja

Upon Anja's receiving the 2023 Business Member of the Year Award from the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), a number of her colleagues were asked about her contributions to the industry, and several are included in this video compilation.

Make a Donation in Anja’s Honor

In celebration of Anja and in lieu of flowers, the Anja Graves Scholarship and the Anja Graves Foundation have been established to carry on her work and spirit. The foundation will donate to charities she supported, such as KidSave, the Capital Area Food Bank, and others.
